MatBoss is good software and a lot of rooms run on it. This page is the honest version: what each one does, what each one costs, and the cases where MatBoss is the better buy.
MatBoss is a film and stats tool. Forge does film and live scoring too, but it also plans your season, builds and runs practice, manages the roster, weigh-ins and lineups, plans safe weight cuts, and finds tournaments. MatBoss bills per team; Forge covers two programs on one subscription.
If what you need is deep film breakdown with TrackWrestling sync, buy MatBoss. If what's eating your week is everything around the film, that's the part Forge was built for.
MatBoss's own pricing page puts it plainly: "Running boys and girls? Cover the whole program for $998 a year." That is the same program Forge covers for $299.
MatBoss also has a genuinely free stats-only tier. If your budget is zero and all you need is scoring and stat reports, that is a real option and you should take it.

You live inside TrackWrestling. MatBoss syncs with TrackWrestling and USA Bracketing directly. Forge does not, and you would be pasting results in by hand. If that sync is how your season runs, MatBoss earns its price.
You want a full season video library. MatBoss includes unlimited storage. Forge's Match Review is built around a parent sending one match at a time, not archiving every dual you have ever wrestled.
Your budget is actually zero. Their stats-only tier is free and it works.
You want the safe, established choice. They have been in wrestling rooms for years, with programs like Ohio State and Oklahoma State on their customer list. Forge is newer. That is a fair thing to weigh.
Everything that is not film. A season plan you can actually follow, practice built in minutes and run hands-free from your phone, the roster and weigh-ins and lineup in one place, safe weight cuts, and every tournament in the country searchable by date and distance. MatBoss does not do any of that; it was never trying to.
Price, if you run both programs. $299 against $998 for the same two teams.
Parents can send film without an account. They get a text link, upload from the stands, and you mark it up. No app for them to install, no login to explain.
The tournament finder is free, needs no account, and covers all 50 states. It is part of Forge, so it is a fair way to see whether the rest is built with the same care.
Or book fifteen minutes and I will walk you through it on your own roster. If MatBoss is the better fit for your room, I will tell you that on the call.
